1: Buy a picture with a sad clown.
2: Watch the picture.
3: Wait some days then a sad clown come to your house.
4: Call the clown catcher if you want the clown to go away.
I did try this on deluxe editon but I think work on all.
It's not an egg. If you'd looked in the instructions manual before playing you should have read that the clown is one of the failures. A way to get rid of the clown without calling the clown catchers is to place the painting beside a fireplace and tell your sims to light up the fireplace, after a while a fire will break out and as the painting burns up so will the clown. emcc - Apr 6 2009 12:23PM
Actually, the sad clown may come to your house regardless of whether you have the picture or not, although I do believe that the painting increases your chances. Only sad Sims will be visited by the clown. Gale - Apr 10 2007 9:21AM
